Rinse
- Thoroughly rinse the entire speargun with fresh water.
- Pay particular attention to areas exposed to salt and sand: mechanism, reel, screws and fittings.
- Rinse the shaft, bands and line as well.

A few simple steps are all it takes to preserve the wood, finishes and equipment of your speargun season after season.
BUILT TO LAST
The sea leaves its mark.
Care makes the difference.
Salt, sand, sun and heat naturally put your equipment under strain. Regular rinsing, proper storage and a few periodic checks will help preserve the performance and condition of your ALBORE speargun for as long as possible.
ESSENTIAL CARE
After the sea,
a few minutes are enough.
Routine care does not require a complicated procedure. Consistency matters more than the amount of products used.
Allow to dry naturally
- Allow it to dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight after diving.
- Do not leave the speargun damp inside its bag.
Check
- Inspect the bands for cracks, cuts or signs of ageing.
- Check the shaft, its tip and the operation of the barb.
- Inspect the line, attachment points and areas subject to friction.
Inspect the whole speargun
- Visually inspect the screws, inserts and various assemblies.
- Make sure the reel and mechanism operate correctly.
- If you notice anything unusual or have any doubts, contact us before carrying out any major work.
WOOD & FINISHES
Two finishes.
Two ways to care for them.
An oil-finished speargun and a varnished speargun do not require exactly the same care.
Nourish and protect the wood
After rinsing and allowing the speargun to dry completely, a fresh coat of oil can be applied when the wood begins to lose its nourished appearance or surface protection.
Apply a small amount of suitable oil to a clean cloth or microfibre cloth, then spread it evenly over the wood.
Allow it to penetrate, then remove any excess according to the product used.
Preserve the protective layer
For routine care, thorough rinsing with fresh water followed by drying is sufficient.
Avoid solvents, harsh products and abrasive work on the varnish.
In the event of a deep scratch, chip or impact that has penetrated the finish, contact ALBORE before sanding or repairing the affected area.
BETWEEN DIVES
Store your speargun properly.
Heat and prolonged exposure are often more damaging to equipment than simple storage in the right conditions.
Store the speargun completely dry, in a well-ventilated area.
Avoid prolonged direct sunlight and high temperatures, particularly inside a vehicle.
Store it in a stable position, without permanent weight or pressure on any part of the barrel.
WHEN SHOULD YOU CONTACT US?
A question is better than a bad repair.
Some signs of use are perfectly normal. Others should be checked before putting the speargun back in the water.
- Significant impact or visible crack in the wood.
- Deep chip or significant damage to a varnished finish.
- Insert, thread or fitting showing any play.
- Mechanism behaving unusually.
- Loss of performance or unusual behaviour of the speargun.
