Maintenance

Well maintained, your ALBORE speargun will withstand the seasons. Here are the key steps to follow after each outing, and the periodic checks that preserve its performance and longevity.

After each outing

  • Rinse with fresh water (lukewarm if possible), the entire speargun.
  • Wipe down the metal parts and remove any sand or debris.
  • Dry in the shade, the speargun laid flat (avoid direct sun / hot car).

Every 5–10 outings

  • Check the bands (cracks, elongation).
  • Inspect shaft & flopper (straightness, tip, oxidation).
  • Check screws / inserts and gently tighten if needed.

Storage

  • Dry, ventilated place, stored flat or hanging, breathable cover.
  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, hot car trunk, point pressure.
  • Long-term: loosen/remove bands, lightly oil the steel.

Wood & finishes

  • Oil: Gentle wash, dry, light oil coat 1–2 times per season. Very fine sanding (1000–1500) if needed before oiling.
  • Epoxy: Rinse + wipe; micro-scratches → soft non-abrasive polish. Avoid solvents/alcohol. No sanding without our advice.
